Ardell's Bio:
Ardell was born in Alberta and moved
around North America with his family.
They settled in Sardis, British Columbia

Canadian Armed Forces. After high
school he attended the Emily Carr College
of Art and Design, majoring in Animation
and Three Dimensional Studies. While in
attendance, he took a seasonal position
with the Provincial Government as a Park
Ranger and continued in this job after
graduation.
Leaving, after ten seasons with the Parks
service, Ardell is currently working as a
freelance artist with a primary interest in
aviation subject matter (a life long
obsession). He has had works accepted
in several Canadian and US national
aviation art exhibits. His paintings have
hung in the National Aviation Museum in
Ottawa, the Seattle Museum of Flight and
many others, as well as private
collections. He was selected to participate
in the pilot project for the Canadian
Forces Artist Program and traveled
overseas to observe the Air Force
contingent of Operation Apollo (the
Canadian contribution to the war on
terrorism).
Ardell is the current President of the
Canadian Aviation Artists Association and
an Artist Member of the American Society
of Aviation Artists.
From the latter organization he received
its, Founder’s Gold Award in 1994 for the
painting “James Allen Ward, VC” and its
1998 Award of Distinction for his piece
“Second of Many” and the 2004 James V.
Roy Award for “Air Show Air Force One”.
He has also taken third prize in the 1999
ArtFlight competition with the piece
“Hockey in the Duff or They just have to
be Canadians”. In 2002 he received first
prize from the CAAA for his painting
