Nimitz off the shore of Alexandria, Egypt. Capt. Robert H. Ferguson had become the CAG of Air Wing 8 on April 10, 1979, just before filming began on board #68, the USS Nimitz, for the movie, “The Final Countdown”, which starred Kirk Douglas and James Farentino. Captain Robert Ferguson received his naval air wings in February of 1963. After over a decade in the navy that included combat in Viet Nam, he was selected to serve on the staff of COMMATWING ONE before becoming the Air Boss on the U.S.S. America in 1978. Capt. Ferguson then became the Commander of Carrier Air Wing 8. He was later deployed from January, 1980 until May of that year, to the Indian Ocean during the critical “Iranian hostage crisis”. Captain Ferguson’s commendations include two Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Air Medal with number ”10”, six Navy Commendation Medals, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. • 500 (25” x 34”) Premium Limited Edition Lithographs, signed by the artist, and Capt.
