HIAWATHA
CLASS A 4-4-2, ATLANTIC NO. 3

Original Sold
The class A locomotive was design with speed in mind, and they
were shrouded when built. Four Atlantic's were built by ALCO for
the Milwaukee Road. They were used to pull the streamline
Hiawatha trains in 1935. The Atlantic's reached speeds of over
100 mph. No. 3 was cannibalized in 1949 to keep the other
Atlantic's running until 1951 when they were scrapped.
