A word from the artist about the artist:

How did a guy whose favorite subjects were mathematics,
history, and art decide what profession to pursue?

For over two decades, Joseph’s creations have appeared in
various forms.  Specializing in aviation art, he also paints
military and other fine art.  Using state-of-the-art airbrushes and
acrylic paint, his work is imaginative yet detailed, photo-realistic,
and researched thoroughly.  He is living proof that being
obsessive-compulsive is an asset for a realistic historical artist.

Joseph’s portfolio does not end with his fine and historical
paintings.  He has been creating commercial art since his first
year at Chicago’s Ray-Vogue School in 1976.  Poster art;
Magazine covers; Editorial illustration; and Advertising for
Sports & Fitness, Restaurants, Doctors, Defense, Government,
and Civil entities are all included in his very large body of work.

A member of the American Society of Aviation Artists since
1991, Joseph’s career really started during his childhood back
in Massachusetts when he won his high school’s graduating
Artist Award.  It continued at the University of Notre Dame where
he participated in Football, Rugby, and Boxing before
graduating in 1973 with his BA in the ”General Program of
Liberal Studies”.  ”I played any contact sport that was violent
enough for me to get seriously injured, but that’s just me.”  His ”
special” major was a ”Renaissance Man” builder: all abstract
thought - no practical knowledge, but it laid a great foundation
for the dreamer-artist in him and inspired his creative
imagination.  His ”practical” knowledge of art began at the Ray-
Vogue School in Chicago, before that school became part of the
School of the Art Institute in Chicago.  Receiving his
Commercial Art degree in 1978 after winning the ”Illustrator’s
Award” in both 1977 and 1978, Joseph went out into the world
to make his fortune.  He became very wealthy and retired at a
youthful age when Joseph, his lovely wife, Linda, and his two
sweet parakeets, Barbara & Gipper, drove off into the sunset
together and lived happily ever after.

No, not really.

Besides being self-employed constantly during and since
Chicago, he also worked as an Art Director, Marketing Director,
or Graphic Artist for many entities, including the Charlotte-
Mecklenburg Schools, Vaughan Real Estate Company in
Albuquerque, and various Screen Printers.  Clients include:
General Electric, the United States Navy, the Federal Aviation
Administration, Harris Corporation, Yale Locks, Mattel Toys,
Chicago Magazine, Charlotte Magazine, Charlotte O’s Baseball,
Golf Digest, Football Digest, Timberland Shoe Company, Max
Muscle, Kirtland AFB, and many others.

Joe’s realistic, accurate, historical aviation art has been
displayed at: the National Museum of Naval Aviation in
Pensacola, Bakersfield Museum of Fine Art, the National Atomic
Museum, Kirtland AFB, and the New Mexico Veteran’s Museum.
Welcome to his world.
