It's mid-April 1945, and four P-51D Mustangs of the 4th Fighter Group's 334th Fighter
Squadron form up over their Debden, Essex base in the early morning light before heading
out with the rest of the group for today's mission. The four kites are Sweet Arlene, flown by
Art Bowers, Georgie, piloted by Ken Helfrecht, Paul Burnett in Marjorie, and Gerald
Montgomery, in his Sizzlin' Liz.
This painting is available in a limited edition of 150 high-quality Giclee prints on "White
Smooth" Legion Digital Rag 300 gsm (slightly heavier than 100 lb. paper) 100% Cotton
watercolor paper. Giclee digital printmaking technology results in the closest reproduction
you can get to the original work in color value, tone and saturation, and the soft texture of the
watercolor paper adds the "high-end" look and feel to the piece. The inks and paper are both
archival quality. The overall print size is 17.75 x 26.00, with an image size of 14 x 23.5. All
prints are signed and numbered by the artist. You may have one pencil remarque added to
your print (see example below). "Remarques" are small pencil sketches which are
hand-drawn on your print by the artist.
The image only (no white borders or text) is also available in a limited edition of 50 Canvas
Giclees each signed and numbered by the artist. The canvas image measures 18 x 30.
Remarques are not available with the canvas edition. The image is printed on real artist's
canvas (the surface appears to my eye to be identical to "Portrait Smooth" grade), and is
shipped to you rolled. The canvas comes with adequate border for stretching on wood
stretcher bars, or the image area may be dry-mounted or glued on panel. The result is the
highest "level" of reproduction possible for an oil painting. The final "look", once framed, is
strikingly similar to an original painting. Indeed, most of your guests or clients will be hard
pressed to tell the difference without sticking their noses right up to the canvas. You frame a
Canvas Giclee just like an original oil on canvas - no glass is needed.
All prints are issued with a matching signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity that
features the artwork image.
