UH-1 "Huey" Gunships from the 119th Aviation Company When I was painting this one, a Vietnam Veteran tapped me on the shoulder. We talked for a while about the painting and the memories it brought back. The Vet, who was a Huey Crew Chief stared at the painting for a long time and then put his hand on my shoulder; "You can hear the blades and smell the smoke". The comment was validation of the drama I was trying to re-create. The Vet left before I could thank him. |
